Jacked Factory has been making and selling supplements for serious gym-goers since 2015. Rather than a media marketing blitz, Jacked Factory built their clientele from the ground up, making their name known in gyms and on the field. Today, Jacked Factory is one of the most trusted names in the supplement business.

Jacked Factory has always focused on scientifically tested ingredients and transparent, honest packaging. They avoid artificial dyes and filler ingredients, building their products on real ingredients. Their pre-workout formula, Nitrosurge, is a perfect example of Jacked Factory’s approach to supplements.

Initial Impressions of Nitrosurge Pre Workout

Compared to other pre-workout supplements, that try to pack in everything and the kitchen sink to prove their value, Nitrosurge is refreshingly simple. Seven functional ingredients, clearly marked, with no “proprietary blend” dodges.

The packaging of Nitrosurge is well-designed, although the black lettering on shiny green background is a little difficult to read. The product inside is a fine powder that mixes up cleanly.

NOTE: Nitrosurge offers serving size data for both 1 scoop and 2 scoops. As most users will probably choose the maximum, we are basing our review on 2 scoops.

Energy Ingredients in Nitrosurge Pre Workout

  • Caffeine anhydrous 360mg
  • L-Theanine 180mg

The max serving of 2 scoops gives Nitrosurge a whopping 360mg of caffeine anhydrous. Now, we all know that the FDA recommendation is 400mg a day, so Nitrosurge is getting very close to the safe maximum. If you’re looking to go beast mode in the gym, it’s a ton of energy, but don’t do it unless you’re sure you can handle it.

Fortunately, Nitrosurge also saw fit to include a strong 100mg dose of Theobromine. Theobromine is a nootropic, with positive effects on focus and mental clarity, but it’s also useful for smoothing out the caffeine surge and calming the jitters.

Nootropic (Focus and Mood) Ingredients in Nitrosurge Pre Workout

Theobromine 100 mg

Theobromine is the only nootropic ingredient included in Nitrosurge. Theobromine is a cacao extract known for having some of the same energy-boosting effects of caffeine but to a more relaxed degree. Like caffeine, theobromine may improve cognitive function and attention. However, note that most studies of theobromine have been at much higher doses than 100mg – usually from 250-1000mg.

Anti-Fatigue Ingredients in Nitrosurge Pre Workout

  • Beta-Alanine 3.2g

When you’ve got your mind on a high-intensity workout, you don’t want your pre-workout to fail you before you get through. That’s why, in addition to a powerful blast of caffeine, Nitrosurge also includes all the beta-alanine you could want – 3.2g, enough to make your skin tingle and hold off fatigue so you can go the distance.

Keep in mind, beta-alanine isn’t for everyone. The skin-crawling sensation can take some getting used to. But if you’re looking at Nitrosurge, we’ve got a feeling you know that already.

Pump and Blood Flow Ingredients in Nitrosurge Pre Workout

  • L-Citrulline 6g

When elite athletes want a pump, they go to L-Citrulline. The 6g of L-Citrulline in Nitrosurge is a little underdosed – 8g is typically seen as the optimal dose – but it’s enough to get a good pump. L-Citrulline helps your body produce nitric oxide, which relaxes your blood vessels and increases blood flow. Even with a lower dose, Nitrosurge can provide a noticeable feeling of dilation and drive.

Strength Support & Body Composition Ingredients in Nitrosurge Pre Workout

  • Betaine anhydrous 1.25 g

Like with L-Ctirulline, Nitrosurge’s dosing of betaine anhydrous is slightly under the optimal amount. While most sources recommend 2.5g, Jacked Factory only includes 1.25g in their Nitrosurge formula – even in the maximum dose.

It’s likely that the makers of Nitrosurge expect users to supplement for strength support elsewhere. After all, most people doing serious weight training know they can get creatine for cheaper on its own than in a pre-workout. However, with the amount of caffeine and beta-alanine included, it seems like Jacked wants a customer base that works out hard, so the low dosing of betaine seems disappointing.

Electrolyte Ingredients in Nitrosurge Pre Workout

Nitrosurge doesn’t include any electrolyte support. As with the betaine content, Jacked Factory probably expects serious athletes to handle their electrolytes on their own. But when you’re paying for a pre-workout supplement formula, you expect a more well-rounded product.

The Extra Mile?

Additional Pre Workout ingredients in NitroSurge:

  • AstraGin 25 mg

We do like seeing AstraGin in Jacked Factory Nitrosurge. AstraGin is a patented ginseng extract that we’re seeing more and more in pre-workout blends. While AstraGin doesn’t really do anything on its own, it’s a valuable addition to a pre-workout.

AstraGin helps your body absorb all the other ingredients in Nitrosurge more effectively, so you get the most out of your pre-workout. Because of its special properties, AstraGin can make a big difference in your recovery.

Nitrosurge Pre Workout Taste & Flavors

Nitrosurge comes in a lucky 13 flavors, including favorites like Cherry Limeade, Blue Raspberry, and Watermelon. We tested the Sour Peach Rings. True to the name, Sour Peach Rings is a very bold sour/sweet blend, initially sharp on the sour end and then a little sickly sweet. Nitrosurge is sweetened with Acesulfame potassium and sucralose, and it does have a bit of a chemical aftertaste.

Who Nitrosurge is For

Nitrosurge is best for athletes who want a hard and high-intensity workout and a stripped-down pre-workout formula.

Who Nitrosurge is Not For

Nitrosurge is not for users who want an all-in-one pre-workout product, as it is missing some key elements.

Potential Side Effects of Nitrosurge

  •  Potential caffeine jitters and beta-alanine skin-crawling

Final Verdict

There’s plenty to like about Jacked Factory’s Nitrosurge Pre-Workout, but to us, it seems like an incomplete product. We appreciate the simplicity and transparency, but there’s too much that it’s not doing, like pump, strength support, and electrolyte support.
