The competition for the Miss Universe title is always intense and every year we see young beauties from across the world fiercely battle for it. This time around the Miss Universe 2010 Pageant was held at the Mandalay Bay Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, on the 23rd of August 2010. A total of 83 contestants participated in the pageant to win the coveted crown.
After several rounds of competition, the beautiful Miss Mexico Jimena Navarrete has been crowned as Miss Universe for the year 2010. She was given the crown by her predecessor, Miss Universe 2009 Stefania Fernandez of Venezuela. Miss Jamaica Yendi Phillipps was announced to be the first runner up with Miss Australia Jesinta Campbell finishing third in the top 3.
Rima Fakih, Miss USA 2010, failed to make it to the top 15 let alone getting crowned Miss Universe 2010. The top favorite with the audience was Miss Philippines Venus Raj, but she ended up fifth due to answering a question wrongly in the final round.
Miss Mexico Jimena Navarrete is due to get an apartment in New York along with all her expenses paid for. In addition, she is also entitled to a scholarship to the New York Film Academy and will be getting lots of designer jewelry, clothes, accessories, money and what not.
